This trip has been a long time in the planning. If I recall correctly, it was sometime in February or March 2026 when Doug @DUGeFresh brought up the possibility of visiting the ███████ Mine in the Panamint Mountains. He'd gotten a lead on the folks who currently own the claim, and was hopeful that he could parlay that into a tour for the both of us.
Doug has a way with people, and a few months later, he'd worked out a way for us to get up there later in the fall. Now, in fact.
Knowing that one mine tour wouldn't be enough for a full trip, it seemed like a visit to a secret mine should be the inspiration for anything else I saw on the trip. And so, I'm headed south, in search of sights that are seldom seen. In search of things most often deemed, unfindable.
Only, with enough effort, anything can be found.
I have organized this story a bit differently than most.
Some of the locations have little or no reporting on the internet and I feel they should remain that way or someone I respect has personally requested that I not share them; as such, locations have been redacted and/or not mentioned, I've used non-official names for local landmarks, and the order of the trip has been randomized.
Please, if you know the locations shown here, I encourage you to enjoy them as much as I did - and follow my lead by not mentioning their names or locations in order to keep them a little less well-known, and special.
