Mud Flap Replaced (A Good-Human Update)

TL;DR - Got a new mudflap installed! Thanks to Derek @unstpible.

Straight to work.

I wouldn't say that humanity has been at its best over the last decade or so. With social media and politics doing their best to divide us, and with neighbors - who once hosted friendly backyard bar-be-ques - now only interacting with the world by scrolling 6" screens, we - as a society - are not in what I'd describe as an "upswing" phase of our development.

And so, I was under no expectation at all that I'd get any sort of reaction - though I suspected that a bunch of other folks adding their +1 stories - when I mentioned the fact that I ripped the driver side mud flap off of the Tacoma on our Butte-iful trip to Death Valley.

Enter Derek @unstpible. On reading the trip report, he proactively reached out with a single line and a tantalizing photo.

I might have a replacement mudflap for you.

I took my mud flaps off years ago and they've just being collecting dust ever since.

Cover shipping and they are yours, just let me know next time you're getting tacos or nachos in St George haha.

I assume for shipping simplicity you only want the actual flap not the bracket? I can ship both rear mudflaps and brackets or whatever combo you want.

Talk about awesome. I'm sure that if dictionaries were still used today, we'd find some reference to this guy who is "Really Good at Breaking Things" nestled into the text somewhere.

After a couple quick messages back and forth, I emailed a label. A week later, there were some nicely-patinaed-mud-flaps on my front porch! And much longer after that - no good deed goes un-procrastinated - the Tacoma looked better than ever.

Pre-loved.
Pre-loved.
As always, a little catawampus.
As always, a little catawampus.

Plus, I really love the idea that ever time I look at the truck, I'm reminded that there are people in the world who are still looking out for each other. Now, I just need to get to St. George, so I can host an all-you-can-eat nacho night.

Thanks Derek!
