Early generations of the Tacoma, 4Runner, Tundra, and Sequoia were great trucks, built to take a beating and keep on ticking. In that light, climate control systems were options, and none of these vehicles included a cabin air filter to keep the dirt and dust of the daily grind - or worse when pushed off pavement - at bay.

Filter details

AdventureTaco cabin air filters have a MERV8 (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) rating to positively affect air quality and your health. It filters particles down to 3 microns in size, including:

• dirt and dust particles
• lint and hair
• pollen
• mold spores and mildew
• dust mites

Air Flow

There's no getting around the fact that adding a filter to a vehicle that was never designed to accommodate a filter results in the reduction of airflow, and still the case here. The AdvenureTaco filter design has reduced the impact as much as possible by eliminating more of the frame and filter-supporting grid - thus increasing the size of the filter - compared to previous solutions, but there's still a trade-off for dust-free cabin air. This chart shows the impact of a MERV8* filter on airflow through each vent at each of the four fan settings.

Also, unlike other products out there, the introduction of AdventureTaco thumbscrews allows such simple, toolless installation, that you can quickly install the filter while you're airing down - keeping trail dust out of the cab - and run your climate control system unrestricted/stock/filterless when on pavement.

* Note: Airflow can be increased by installing a filter with a lower MERV rating. A MERV6, MERV4, or MERV2 filter would allow more airflow, but would not filter some of the smaller particles.

Replacement Filters

Cabin air filters should be inspected and replaced every 3-6 months. Replacement filters are available at a significant discount, and on a signup-and-save basis so you never have to think about when to replace your filter; we'll remember for you!
