Food: Quest Protein Bars

TL;DR - To maximize our breakfasts, we decided on Quest Protein Bars. They were all filling, none were terrible, but Crispy Cookies and Creme was far and away the best.

More satisfying than we expected; still a bit like sawdust.

In order to maximize protein intake and minimize weight for breakfasts on our first backpacking trip, we decided to go with protein bars from Quest. I've eaten these bars in the past when I've travelled to foreign countries with not-for-Americans water, and while I didn't love them, those who knew at the time said they were "better than the rest."

Another consultation before this trip suggested the same, so we loaded up with four different varieties so we wouldn't be stuck eating the same thing for a week. In fact, since they came in boxes of four (4) bars, there'd be only one day where we had to fight over the "least bad flavor."

Here's the order in which we pulled the off the shelf, perhaps an indication of what we think we'll like best. Of course, they'll probably all taste a little like chalk, so "best" will be relative.

  • Oatmeal Chocolate Chip
  • Lemon Cake
  • Crispy Cookies and Cream
  • S'Mores

More satisfying than we expected; still a bit like sawdust.
