In early 2026, I visited the Emma Mine Cabin in Saline Valley. There, I found a relatively new, but also relatively empty register containing only 22 entries over the span of seven years. I always like to archive this sort of information, as there's no telling when it will be "borrowed" from the cabin or otherwise meet some untimely demise.
If you've been to the Emma Cabin, I'd love to hear your story in the comments below.

Welcome to the Emma mine shack.
Last owner was Mammoth Bob.
Last significant use was circa 2007.
Register placed January 2019.
9-4-2018 - Nice find! I expect very few people come hope or even know about it, I can see it was once nice and cozy. -S.G.
1-5-2019 Back again to place this resister. I will be curious to see if ANY BODY comes here at all! Welcome to the least visited shack in saline valley and perhaps all of Death Valley ☺ seems like an awesome place to hang for a day or two with total privacy and a great view. Gloomy, cold weather
today, wondering how much snow there will be going at north pass.

11-11-19 - HAPPY VETERANS DAY! FOUND THIS LITTLE CABIN ON GOOGLE EARTH. TOOK A MINUTE JUST TO FIND THE ROAD UP HERE. ON A DEATH VALLEY DUAL SPORT RIDE WITH MY DAD (TODAYS HIS 61ST B-DAY) AND BUDDY JASON. COOL LITTLE PLACE!
STEVEN AND CARLOS TORTRES - HIGH DESERT CA
JASON OROSCO - O.C CA
11-16-19 - After coming to Death & Saline Valley for 35 years and not knowing about this cabin! It was a nice find & surprise! Love the stone work the sun curtain, pantry & beautiful windows. A cozy place to stay with a bit of clean up.
The New Viking Command RLK

2-17-20 - Swung by for a hike on the way out from President's Day. Beautiful in the past & wish I could have seen it in better days, much like the Bunker Hill + Lead Canyon cabins right south. Thanks for placing the register & I'm glad to have visited this new, quiet corner of Death Valley.

2/17/20 - Amazing to find such a well preserved cabin so close to the road. The stone work, curtaining, and beans make it feel like someone was just here. Can't wait to come back.

March 25, 2020 - Pleasantly surprised that people came by! The world is turning upside down, but Saline
feels like a different planet. After a week exploring all of Death Valley and not really interacting with anyone, I am heading home to face the music. The unfolding disaster makes the Emma Mine shack seem even more like a safe place to retreat for a few days! -S.G.
10-17-2020 Back with a friend after a night at the hot springs. Just checked out Bunker Hill, the next road and mine south of here. After a long hot smokey summer, it's nice to see things clearing up and cooling off. -S.G.
10-16-2021 - A year later and nobody else since last time ??? Maybe nobody who felt like writing. Fall is my favorite, especially after another mediocre Summer filled with smoke and social craziness! I love to arrive at the lower springs late at night and jump right in the Bat Tub.
12-3-21 - Found my way here looking at sat. images/looking to visit Bunker Mine again! Beautiful Andy
12-9-25 - Here again Andy

12/8/2021 - I accidentally stumbled upon this place 12 years ago, 2009. What a surprise! Not much has changed in 12 years. There is an old, old old trail between here and Lead/Bunker Hill Canyons, still marked by cairns the whole way. See if you can find it!
George Hayduke - Hite, UT
03-26-22 - Whata cool place the Mcnulty family
5-25-22 - 7 BLM members came to visit and assess Cabin health. I saw a bat in the Closet!
11/27/23 - After 2 failed attempts from LEAD/BUNKER trail, came up the old road from N.PASS. Rangers drained the tubs ~9 days ago & have been writing tickets/sending everyone home. We've been hiding up in Lead Canyon hiking & exploring for the last week. Rangers are headed back to the springs tonight so we will continue to hide out like outlaws in the Inyo's. Interesting turn-of-the-century shafts & pits in the washes west of this cabin, even an ancient wheel-barrow still sitting there. Sucks the springs are closed (for no real reason) but it has given us the opportunity to see more mines & cabins instead of getting sucked Into the hot-tub vortex!
I wonder if Mammoth Bob & Art Lawerence (Bunker Hill) Knew each other? I see quartz w/galena around the cabin, what did they mine here? Thanks for placing this register Stewart! I will be sure to check back in the future!
These cabins wont last forever! The Workshop at Bunker Hill Collapsed since I was there in 2021, appreciate this beautiful history while you can!

TAJ MAHAL INYO CUTLAWS!
The Fitzgeralds were here 4-1-24. Found this on Caltopo map and had to see it! We came all the way From Burlington Wa.
3-22-25 - Hiked the last mile. Awesome Spot! Needs a tune up, maybe next time. -Alex Keller
3-22-25 - Hiked 1 mile up. Great cabin. Time to hit the Warm Springs.
Chris Collins

11-17-25 - Greg & James are lazy and drove up, we were at the springs at noon
10/15/25 - What a great place!
Sabine, Bishop, CA
12-9-25 - Andy
1-25-26 - On a quick tour of a bunch of cabins! Having a great time in the desert!
