This is the best day for visibility on any peak I've climbed in years. Probably in excess of 100 miles. This is what it used to look like back when I started in 1970. It's good to hiking again (Thanks Jeff!). And good going Curt Merritt (three times in 1986!)

Just me and 10 ravens & 1 good ol' coyote. Running out 4 of the upper Towsees. It took me some 54 years to finally climb this peak. Been into the Great Falls Basin numerous times, like when Skip Ray, Jim DeParson, Bill Davis & Don Lucarelli & I & Russ Moultre in 1963 — where I said something under we tossed the front end of it. My Pad Built the house just down from McPhersons in Homewood Park in 1949. He helped pave the way up beyond the [illegible] and we finally got electricity in the 40s & 50s.
Too Bad Trona has suffered these past 15 years. But I still come back — I got a place to spend childhood and I'm still a TRONA kid!
Sorry, Cathy Wiseman — I couldn't wait for you to come up here too.

March 18 2006 Randy and Layla Dewees. We came up the grand and terrible Southeast Ridge, starting from Great Falls Basin parking area. This was our 3rd attempt at this route. It's cold and snowing. 10% about a month ago we saw the white stallion here by the Crow Canyon saddle. That was a failed attempt that was to completely encircle the Basin.

Juliana — I think I have letters with you. I'm not really a thing my brother for hate this. It's my 2nd climb this and the first mountain and here and because it is spring was hard. Because it is spring I collected lots of flowers on my hat. The rocks were a little hard to climb through but we made it. I don't like in the desert but right now this beautiful mountain has changed my mind. I have never been so close to nature and I hope you all feel the same.

We followed markers and set new ones. I found new different ways that might help. I was the leader and my brother and dad followed behind. My nickname today was "Recipe" because I said follow my recipe, its easier to get up and warm, and it was. I recommend you bring camelbacks brand water storage to carry like a backpack — there's a tube to drink the water from.
By the way my brother is obsessed with Nike, underarmour vans, etc.
